Ethnic People in Bangladesh
Ethnic group means a group of people from a particular cultural tradition or of a particular race. They are called ethnic minority if they live in a country where the majority of people are of a different cultural background or race. Several ethnic groups live in Bangladesh. The majority of these people live in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
The others live in the regions of Mymensingh, Rajshahi and Sylhet. Among the ethnic people of Bangladesh, the most well-known are the Chakmas, the Marmans, the Tipperas and the Moorangs who live in the hill tracts. The Sawtals live in Rajshahi The Khasias and the Monipuries live in Sylhet and the Hajangs and the Garos live in Mymensingh.
The ethnic people live in forest areas, in the hills and in rural areas. They practise "Jhurn" cultivation They clear a piece of land in the forest, prepare it and sow seeds in it. They are mostly farmers. They speak their own mother tongues. They have their own lifestyles. They celebrate their own religious and social festivals.
They have their own customs and values. They feel proud of their history, art and culture. Most of the ethnic people living in Bangladesh have some common characteristics They build their houses on bamboo or wooden platforms called 'machang. Rice is their staple food. They eat vegetables, maize, fish, poultry and meat.
Their kitchen utensils are made of bamboo, wood and soil which they make themselves. Men wear lungis and women wear thamis or sarrongs and angis. Women weave their own clothes. Hunting and fishing are their favourite pastimes. They are fond of songs, music, dances, theatre and fain. Traditional musical instruments that they use are bugles which are made from buffalo horns, drums and bamboo flutes. Wrestling is a popular sport for them. The ethnic people in Bangladesh hold a very important place in the culture of the country.
How to Do Well in the Examination
A student who studies regularly, learns his lessons well and makes a good preparation is sure to do well in the examination. But there are some students who work hard but cannot do well in the examination. To do well in the examination, a student should be regular in his studies from the very beginning of the year.
It helps a student to prepare his lessons thoroughly. Many students neglect their studies at the beginning and when the examination approaches, they start cramming. But cramming does not help a student in time of his need. Clear conception about a subject helps a student to answer the questions properly. Secondly, a student has to make his notes for the examinations through proper understanding and constant practice.

To be a good one, a student must have some qualities. He must be regular in and attentive to his studies. That is, he should attend his classes regularly and listen to what his teachers say in the classes. This will help him do well in the examinations. He must not spend his time and energy in anything other than his studies.
Rather, he should be very punctual in doing his works and should make the best use of his time to make good preparation and good results in the examinations. He will have to make a routine of his work and follow it strictly. This will help him to finish his work in time and to make him prompt and active in every work.
Besides these, a good student should have some other good qualities such as, politeness, honesty, truthfulness and sincerity. He mustn't keep himself confined to studies only, he must take part in games and sports and cultural activities.
